The registration fee is $160 CAD per team, $50 per judge. Institutions that do not meet the N-1 judge rule must pay $50 per missing judge.
Unless you have requested a waiver or you were told otherwise by the Tournament Directors, institutions will be required to send a full payment encompassing all registered teams by the deadline of May 15th at 11:59 PM EST.
If your club requires accommodations with regard to payment deadlines, please contact us and we will make alternative arrangements. Please note that the cancellation deadline for any team is May 19th at 11:59 PM EST. Refunds will not be given past this date.
Debates will be in British Parliamentary format, with speeches seven minutes in length. There will be five preliminary rounds. Rounds 1, 2, 3, and 5 are open adjudication. All motions are impromptu with fifteen minutes of preparation. The WUDC 2026 manual will be used.
Open WUDC manualHybrid teams are allowed to attend! This tournament is not a strict IV, dinos are welcome!
Novice Eligibility: Speakers in their first year of competitive university debate, or who have attended less than three tournaments prior to this one will be eligible for novice status. For novice break eligibility, both debaters on a team must be novice.
By default, speakers should only use paper for their notes. For anyone that requires a laptop or any other form of accomodation, please submit the accomodation form. Any speakers approved for laptop notes will have a laptop emoji added to their name on TabbyCat for ease of tracking. Any illegal internet use will result in disqualification from the tournament.
This tournament will use iron-person based opt outs. Should any speaker be uncomfortable debating a given motion, they may decide to opt out; in which case their partner will deliver both speeches. This decision must be communicated to the Equity Team within five minutes of the motion being released. If neither speaker is able to debate the motion, the team forfeits the round, automatically receivng fourth place. A team may opt out of a maximum of two in-rounds while remaining break eligible.
By attending this event, you consent to being photographed or recorded for promotional purposes/educational purposes and/or personal use of attendees. If you would like to opt out of any media produced at this tournament, please fill out the opt out form (we’d love to have nice photos of you though).
